Converting your Visitors into Buyers through your Landing Pages

Once you have visitors at your website, the key is to try to coax them into buying. However, to make them buy something from you, it is important to have a landing page that is appealing, convincing and will establish enough trust and confidence in them to make them click on the “Buy Now” button. Today, landing pages are fast becoming the number one factors to help convince visitors to buy from your site.

Your landing page needs to be compelling! This is where most companies with an online presence tend to lose the greatest percentage of their sales. IN any SEM campaign, your online marketing ROI's will increase greatly if you can manage to persuade your first time visitors to become buyers. A compelling landing page, also known as a destination or target URL can have a very positive effect on your overall returns and your bottomline.

Here are a few pointers to build a strong and effective landing page that will further your online marketing goals:
  • Never send them to the Home Page – On most commercial sites, the home page is what acts like a directory to different departments, with dozens of links to be clicked on to get to different places across the site. You'll probably end up confusing your visitors. So, send them to a specific area that is directly related to the keywords that they have typed in. The best part about a landing page is that it doesn't even have to be a part of your site. If your company is running an offer on herbal products, you could simply build a temporary page and call it “herbal products”, with a link that states exactly that – Herbal Products. Once your offer is over, you could just remove the page. So, design your landing page in such a way that it has a minimal number of clicks.
  • Make your Visitors Trust you – If you have a product that has a one year warranty and this is mentioned on your ad listing, then make sure it is also mentioned on your landing page. Most buyers turn away from a site if they can't trust the site. Online buyers want to trust a business and want to be reassured that they will get the warranties and after sales services that they are promised. So build trust in your visitors and they will keep coming back for more.
  • Ask your Visitors to Buy – A good landing page will send visitors to the right areas where they will be called on to purchase what your business is selling. To achieve this you could: use powerful action-filled words, lower your visitors navigation options, and place strategic information for them to easily view.
  • The basics of selling – Your products and services need to be good in order for people to buy them. People will buy your products if they are logical, trustworthy and if they want and need your product. People will buy a product from you only if it makes sense to them, so you should enhance your landing page in such a way that it will draw visitors emotionally. Enumerate the features and benefits of your service or product and make it stand out from the competition.
In SEM, converting your visitors into buyer can be difficult. However, with a little preparation and logic, your site is all set to go.
